Just the FAQs

Do I need to make a reservation?

No, just come on in during business hours and we’ll help you get started.  Save yourself some time by signing the waiver and video orientation acknowledgement online before you arrive.

Can I see a virtual tour?

Who needs to sign a waiver?

Everyone, even if you aren’t climbing. You will also need to sign the orientation video acknowledgement form.  Click below to fill both out before you arrive to the gym.

What do I need to start?

Just some comfortable athletic clothes and an adventurous attitude; climbing shoes are available to rent if needed as street shoes are not permitted on our walls.

Do you have an age limit?

Yes, the minimum age to participate is 7.  Additionally, if you’re bringing a child under the age of 14, they must be supervised at all times:

  • All children between the ages of 10-13 must be supervised by an adult at a 2:1 – child to adult – ratio.
  • Children under 10 years old must be directly supervised (within arm’s length) by an adult at a 1:1: – child to adult – ratio.
  • If you bring more than one child, please plan accordingly.

Do I need a partner or can I climb by myself?

If you are rope climbing, it’s always advised to climb with a partner, but we do have 8 auto belays in the roping area (which allow you to climb without a belay partner).  Bouldering is done without a partner or ropes.

What is Bouldering and is it hard?

Bouldering is a style of climbing that is generally done on shorter walls (less than 20 feet tall) without the use of harnesses or ropes.  It’s as challenging or easy as you want it to be, and our “problems” are color coded to help you identify its level of difficulty.

Group Events?

If you’re interested in coming in with a group, we offer special pricing! Just fill out the form found at the link below and we will get back to you shortly.

Been to a lot of climbing gyms in North Jersey but I got to say this was one of my favorites. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. First timers get free shoe rental which is awesome! The gym itself is also really nice with lots of climbs for every level. There is also a weightlifting gym in the middle. The lockerroom and bathroom is also very nice big and clean. 10/10!
Response from the owner:Thank you Adbulrezzak!

Best bouldering gym in the state of NJ, hands down. There’s not much else to say. If you like rock climbing and are in the North Jersey area, find a time to get to Method.

I only came for the weight room. They have quality power racks and bars, with Olympic style plates, and all the gear you need for serious weightlifting. They even have a glute ham raise and trap bars. Not only do they have two full racks but you can also set up the pull up bars as half-racks and they even have squat stands available too. There's no shortage of places to squat and bench press here. Amazing.

Confusingly, the gym is in the basement. The upstairs section that you see from the street is a cafe. The cafe is also extremely nice, with bathroom and Wi-Fi and plenty of seating.

The climbing section of this gym, and the main focus of the facility, is just enormous. I've never seen so many climbing walls in my life, seems like every single wall from floor to ceiling is set up for either bouldering or climbing.

The gym has bathrooms with lockers and showers. Though compared to the massive size of the facility, the bathroom feels a little disproportionately small. There's a conspicuous lack of towels, which is a little inconvenient considering all the chalk, floor dirt, and sweat you're gonna accumulate especially on your phone if you're tracking your lifts.

The entire gym floor has good WiFi coverage. The clientele and staff seems to include a large proportion of students from the nearby university. The staff are extremely nice and helpful.

The billing for the gym has a variety of monthly rates and you can purchase a set number of visits, weeks, or months of access. Prices are in the ballpark of $96/month. Thank God they don't use those horrible commercial gym membership scam contracts here. I haven't tried to cancel my membership yet but it seems like it should be easy and the billing doesn't appear to have any commitment required. When you arrive at the gym you just check in via the computer terminals by looking up your phone number and clicking "check in", super easy.

They have drinks for sale, but it doesn't seem like they stock any sort of energy drinks which is a bummer. Please get some of the sugar free Monsters 😁
Edit: they do stock sugar free energy drinks but they appear to sell out quickly

Overall this gym is pretty amazing. Never in my life have I seen such a massive, expertly equipped facility that is so user friendly. It seems too good to be true. Very impressive.

This place is absolutely phenomenal. Staff there is super nice. Went in to try it out and left with a membership. I had a great instructor named Enrique who was incredibly helpful and encouraging on how to get started and how to improve. I wish all other gyms were like this one!
Response from the owner:Thanks Jairo! Glad you had a great experience.

I have tried to get into a regular workout for years, but to be perfectly honest, gyms are usually BORING to me. Not this one though. I come in three times a week, and it feels like a new playground every time. I've only been a member for about a month, but I feel super fit already, and really proud of how I'm beginning to tone. I also took my first yoga class with them in 20 years and I've never felt so internally balanced. And the best part is that the community here is an absolute treasure. I've never felt judged for falling off a wall or putting a harness on wrong by accident, the staff is so nice and helpful when you're figuring things out, and every month, they host multiple events in their cafe and the gym downstairs. Also, this is the only cafe in the area that stays open late, which is sometimes absolutely crucial for my own creative process. I feel truly thankful that I found this wonderful spot after moving to Newark. I hope to keep visiting for many, many moons. :)
Response from the owner:Thanks Nicholas!

Went here last week as a susprise birthday gift. Simply put, this place is amazing. I'd consider myself a complete beginner and couldn't have had a better instructor in Enrique. He was kind, informative, hilarious and most importantly, encouraging as he definitely verbally assisted me through one of the climbs that I truly wouldn't have reached the top without his positive reinforcement.

The space is vast and I didn't feel like I waited for more than a few seconds to do any of the climbs.

The staff is friendly and so, too, as the community.

I would definitely go back.
Response from the owner:Thanks James!
I had to google this place to see if it was a chain. No shade either way, just curious. It looks like this is privately owned, which is impressive for how smooth the operation is and how extensive the walls and fitness offerings.

I was stuck at the airport after a cancellation and ubered over to get a break. The staff was super kind and chill; even offered the qualifications for some discounts, which I had not asked about. The holds and problems are fun, plenty of tension boards, campus boards, and 45 deg walls to work out in. It’s really well thought out and not fluff and show. Anyone, at any level, should be able to be engaged here.

Not least, the clientele is diverse (age, gender, race, ability, etc.) and it’s obvious the gym is deliberate about providing a comfortable and engaging space for all.

There’s a coffee shop upstairs with some drinks and pastries to refuel after and relax. Really great. Next time I’m stuck in Newark, I won’t be so grumpy, knowing I can pop over to Method.
Response from the owner:Thank you Keith!

SUPER cool location!! This was my first time ever rock climbing and I didn't feel judged at all (even when I completely stumbled after landing while doing the auto belay orientation– super nice staff!!). Price is super affordable in my opinion, and I loved being able to go upstairs and go to the cafe after I was done climbing.
Response from the owner:Thanks Bella!

So I’m definitely in the minority here, this place has plenty of climbing, but for me I actually use the workout area much more often. The workout area is basically fitted in classic CrossFit style and they allow you to drop weights. They have 4 racks where you could squat or bench and more room to deadlift or Olympic lift. Definitely a great place to workout. They also have a plenty of dumbbells, kettlebells, and a few machines. Love this place, and the climbing is good too.
