Who we are

Method Climbing LLC ("Method", "we", "us") runs the climbing and fitness gym at 16 Lombardy Street, Newark, NJ 07102, and the website methodclimb.com. Questions about this policy: info@methodclimb.com.

What we collect

What you give us on our forms. This depends on the form.

  • Contact, tour and inquiry forms: name, email, phone, and your message.
  • Waivers and membership forms: name, email, phone, date of birth, emergency contact, your signature, and the names and birthdates of any children under 18 you sign for.
  • Youth program and team forms: the child's name and date of birth, and a parent or guardian's name and contact details.
  • Job applications: name, address, phone, email, work history, and the other details you enter. Date of birth is optional.
  • Incident reports: details of an injury or incident, including contact details of the person involved.
  • Discount applications: the proof you upload, such as a student ID.
  • Newsletter signup: your email address.

What we collect automatically. When you visit the site, our analytics tools record things like your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived. This does not include your name.

Payments and bookings. Memberships, passes, classes and birthday parties are bought through our booking provider, Approach. Approach collects your payment details and account information under its own privacy policy. We do not store card numbers on this website.

How we use it

  • To answer your questions and run the services you ask for (tours, classes, memberships, events, camps, parties).
  • To keep the gym safe, including waivers, certifications and incident records.
  • To review job applications.
  • To send the newsletter, if you signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email.
  • To understand how the website is used and to improve it.
  • To measure our advertising and show our ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • To follow the law and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run the site and the gym.

  • Approach: Bookings, memberships and payments
  • Vercel: Website hosting and basic visitor statistics
  • Google: Website analytics (Google Analytics), maps on some pages
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): Measures our ads and shows them to site visitors (Meta Pixel)
  • Our database and file storage providers: Store form answers and uploaded files
  • Our email provider: Delivers form notifications and replies to staff
  • Discord: Internal staff notifications when a form is submitted. Staff only.
  • Our newsletter tool: Sends the newsletter

We may also share information if the law requires it, to respond to a legal request, to protect someone's safety, or if the business is sold or merged.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics uses cookies. Embedded maps and videos on some pages may set their own cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you using the site. To opt out of Google Analytics, you can use Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals.

We use, or may begin to use, the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram). It tells Meta which pages you visited on our site, so we can measure our ads and show our ads to people who visited, or to people like them. Meta may combine this with information it already has about you, under Meta's own privacy policy. You can turn off ads based on your activity in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings, and you can block the pixel by blocking cookies in your browser.

We do not send Meta the contents of any form, and the pixel is not loaded on waiver, youth, incident or job application pages.

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Signed waivers and incident reports are kept longer, as needed to protect us and our members in the event of a claim. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Children

Our youth programs, camps and parties involve children. We collect a child's information only from a parent or guardian, and only for the program in question. The website is not meant for children under 13 to use on their own, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from them.

How we protect it

Form answers are stored in a private database, and uploaded files are stored privately. Only authorized staff can see them. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email info@methodclimb.com. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some records, such as signed waivers, for legal reasons.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top.
