AUTOBELAY CERTIFICATION

I acknowledge that I have been shown, and that I have demonstrated, the ability to properly clip myself into an auto belay.

The black carabiner with red webbing must be clipped into my belay loop first, followed by the gold carabiner.

I understand that the carabiners (both the main and safety carabiners) must be clipped to the belay loop on the harness and no other part of the harness or climber.

I understand that most auto belay accidents are caused by user error; specifically, failing to clip in properly. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to ensure that I am clipped in properly prior to attempting any climbs.

I understand that it is against our policy to wear earbuds while using the autobelay.

Climbing(Required)

I acknowledge and have demonstrated that when using any of the auto belays, I must remain directly below the auto belay without straying too far to the left or right.

I understand the difference between auto belays and top rope belays. The auto belays are attached to yellow triangular gates to help climbers quickly identify the auto belay.

I acknowledge that the gates are a safety feature designed to show the auto belay line is not yet attached to the climber’s belay loop.

Lowering(Required)

I acknowledge and have demonstrated that when I am lowering on the auto belays my feet must be out in front of me, pointing towards the wall. I must not kick off of the wall, and my hands must remain on the auto belay webbing until I reach the ground.
